Emergency Fund to Bahamas

In the fall of 2019, Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas.  It landed on the Abacos Islands as a Category 5 with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph.  The damage, especially to Abacos Islands and Grand Bahama Island, was “unprecedented and extensive” stated Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Minnis.  As a member of the CANA Region (Caribbean North America) in the World Day of Prayer International Committee, the Bahamas reached out to sister organizations for funding help in this crisis.

To help restore impacted communities, the Women’s Inter-Church Council sent an emergency grant of $2,000.  Recent correspondence to WICC included the following profound words of gratitude:

The impact of such a mammoth hurricane on our small islands seems an injustice. But the wonderful resilience of our people and the demonstration of love of our neighbours and partners like you serve as a great equalizer. We are therefore encouraged and strengthened as we move forward with our recovery and reconstruction process, confident that our Jehovah Jireh will meet our every need through ways and means that we cannot fathom at this time.

May this bountiful God abundantly bless you and graciously reward your generosity toward us.
