Student Christian Movement
The Student Christian Movement used a WICC grant to help them present the Cahoots Festival of Faith, Justice and DIY, an annual intergenerational event.
Grant Program: Student Grant
Year of Grant: 2017-2018
Grant Amount: $4,000
The Cahoots festival is an ecumenical gathering to explore the intersection of faith, justice and do-it-yourself, giving space for theological exploration, promoting creativity, and developing organizing skills. In the fourth year, the festival focused on “Identity and Holy/Sacred Land” in the light of Canada 150, an important conversation in the life of the nation.
Cahoots organises along principles of mutual aid, community engagement, anti-racism, feminism, and social justice. The Student Christian Movement is part of the ecumenical tradition and strives to create safe, creative and exciting spaces for worship, dialogue across differences, and creativity to flourish.
