Thank you WICC donors!
With your financial support, WICC was able to distribute $100,000 to 22 World Day of Prayer grant applicants in late June. Together, we are restoring hope and justice to women and children in the midst of a global pandemic. Many worthy projects benefitted from your partnership including emergency COVID-19 aid for orphan caregivers, domestic violence survivors, victims of human trafficking, and those in need of emergency food services.
Needs are great and WICC would like to support additional projects. We know that we can help make a difference in the lives of others. Here’s a story shared by the FCJ Refugee Centre, a 2019 grant recipient, in January 2020.
Sophia, a 65 year old woman, and her daughter who fled horrific personal circumstances in El Salvador are refugees. A former resident of FCJ Refugee Centre transitional housing, she has been a regular participant in our weekly workshops. Through her connection to community, and the accessibility of enhancing skills through these workshops, she has built her new life, and developed skills to find a job. She has excelled in gaining tremendous skills in making her own jewelry, and now successfully sells them in various events around the City of Toronto. Economic sustainability is so important!
