When I took on the role in 2018, WICC had just celebrated its 100th Anniversary with several events across the country to commemorate this landmark centennial.
The previous president, Rev. Shirley DeMerchant, had a lead role in restructuring the organization to function as a Board with several active Teams that work continuously throughout the year. Our Board now meets virtually four times a year instead of twice a year in person as in the past.
As I leave the role of president, I am confident that our new president, Rev. Steph McClellan, will serve this organization with wisdom, courage, humour, and compassion.
I look forward to continuing to work with the WICC Board members for another year as Past President and Co-Chair of the Sexual Exploitation Working Group for the Canadian Council of Churches.
In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those on the Board and staff for their dedication and contributions towards making WICC a stronger, more vibrant organization.
As we continue to live through the pandemic, COVID 19, and as I look at the large increase in the new cases, I am thankful for the many blessings we have received and I pray for continued good health for all the members of our Board and Staff.
