WICC Board Continues to Zoom and Flourish

Our meeting on June 18-19, 2021 was very meaningful and productive. Highlights included the worship and prayer times together. We previewed the World Day of Prayer (WDP) service for 2022 written by the women of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (EWNI) and the Fellowship of the Least Coin ingathering service for fall 2021. “For I know the plans I have for you” is the WDP scripture from Jeremiah that resonates in our hearts, and we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead with online and in-person events.

We celebrated God’s blessings and provision in the past year and planned for the year ahead. One of the highlights of WICC is the grant program, funded by your donations to support women and children touched by various kinds of injustice. For 2021, the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada has been able to fund $60,000 divided among 15 grants. An Awakening grant of $2000 was also awarded to help Indigenous women. Another highlight of our annual Board June weekend meeting is the “Hello and Goodbye Circle” on Friday evening where stories are shared by those who have completed their Board term and those who are new members this year. Transition is a sacred time in our lives. Stay tuned to future We-Connect issues to learn more about those who joined the board this year. There will also be a series of articles contributed by the WICC Board members on various relevant justice issues in the year ahead.

With gratitude for your support and partnership in this ministry.

Happy Summer!

Cath MacKeil, WICC Executive Director
