World Day of Prayer

World Day of Prayer (WDP) has been happening in Canada for almost 100 years!  The 2021 service was written by the WDP committee of Vanuatu inspired by the Biblical theme “Build on a Strong Foundation” (Matthew 7; 24-27).

Go to wicc.org to watch or share our special full-length World Day of Prayer Service video.  There is a well-marked access tab on the website, or simply click on the previous underlined words. This free one-hour recording features participants from across Canada.   It was produced by the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada to help keep people safe during COVID-19 restrictions and will be available on the WICC website until September 30th.

Donations received for services not only support the World Day of Prayer movement but provide generous grants that support social justice projects in Canada and the world.

We are encouraging online donations. This supports COVID-19 precautions and requires less processing of funds by coordinators and WICC staff.

Individuals can use the DONATE button on the WICC website (www.wicc.org/donate). Or go to wicc.org on a smartphone and click  DONATE BY TEXT (647) 953-5557.

CHEQUES can be mailed to:

WICC (Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada)
47 Queen’s Park Crescent East
Toronto, ON
M5S 2C3

Please make sure that your mailing address is included with all cheques.  Tax receipts will be provided for donations of $20 or more.

World Day of Prayer has been an important ministry for women as they lead services within their communities for their own denominations and ecumenically year after year. In past years, women received the World Day of Prayer service in the fall, and then gathered to plan, host, and share coffee and conversation following the service, typically on the first Friday in March.

I’m very happy to see that we will be able to join in a World Day of Prayer. I have not missed this occasion , since I’ve became a member of our CWL
council in Saskatchewan for 53 years.
    Thanks for this opportunity.
