Farewell Words from Retiring Board Member – Dr. Anita Gittens

It has been an honour and a privilege to be a part of WICC. Over the past 8 years, I’ve seen unprecedented change, including embracing technology, navigating through the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic, creating World Day of Prayer Service videos and events and shifting to a reduced office footprint.

Throughout the changes, the constants have been the commitment to WICC’s vision and mission, the dedication of the Board, Executive Director and staff to WICC and a willingness to accept the changes and respond with innovation.

As I leave the Board, having completed my terms as Board Treasurer, I will have many fond memories of my role in the Finances, as well as in Nominations and the Social Committee.

Memories of the many women from across the country, who sat and continue to sit as Council and Board members, the Presidents, past and present, Executive Directors, past (may Patricia Burton- Williams Dack rest in peace) and present, the staff, past and present, in office and those who work remotely, the Awakening print and its special artist, local WICC groups and interaction with organizational partners.

I will miss the reports of the WICC Teams, World Day of Prayer planning, reviewing grant applications, grant disbursements, grant recipients and grant stories, the prayers, the fellowship and fun of meetings and events.

It has been a wonderful journey!

My heartfelt thanks to the Board, Executive Director and staff for making the journey so special. I look forward to staying in touch, and I will continue to pray for and spread the word of WICC’s vision, mission and work.

May God continue to bless WICC, all who have been part of its past, those of you who are its present and those who will be its future.

Blessings,

Anita

Thank you Anita for your faithful service! It was a joy to work with you when I was on the Board. You saw us through some exciting and challenging times and through much change. WICC has been blessed by the sharing of your time and your talents, your wisdom and your faith. May the Lord richly bless you in the many ways you presently serve others and in any new endeavors you take on.
