Combating Human Trafficking of Women and Children in Rural Areas
Given that India has been identified as a source, transition, and destination point for sex trafficking, Share the Vision established Level Watch Dog committees in 10 villages. These smaller communities were targeted as it is believed that 90% of those trapped in human trafficking come from rural areas.
Forty leaders for twenty such groups were given training for 21 days to ensure that they were fully educated, and convinced, about the gravity of the problem. Over 12,000 preventative interactions were then recorded over a six month period.
